Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, has welcomed the Scottish Agricultural Organisation Society's new guide which is aimed at giving advice to food and drink producers on how best to successfully bid for public sector contracts.
The MSP has been campaigning to get more fresh and seasonal food into public sector catering contracts.
Jim Hume said:
"There are a vast number of food and drink businesses in Scotland that are not able to compete for catering contracts simply because they're overlooked in favour of larger competitors.
"This guide will offer practical advice to SMEs on understanding the market they're in, the tendering process and how to compete successfully within that overall framework."
