Jim Hume MSP, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland and Lib Dem Spokesman on the Environment, has written to East Lothian Council asking that the consultation for its Draft Environmental Strategy is extended.
The MSP has heard concerns from constituents who say that the consultation which is to run until mid August, will go undetected by many interested parties because it falls over the holiday period.
Jim Hume said:
"I have asked Council officials to rethink the timing of the consultation so that stakeholders have a reasonable chance to respond.
"The fact that it falls over the summer holiday period means that there may be many interested parties, including community councils and other groups that break for the summer, who simply will not have the chance to pen a response and I have asked the Council to take that into consideration.
"I believe that my request on behalf of constituents is reasonable and I hope that the Council will agree."
