Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, will on Monday (28th June) welcome humanitarian rights worker, Dr Hasan Nowarah of Justice for Palestine, to Selkirk High School to speak to 5th and 6th year pupils about the recent Gaza flotilla siege.
The MSP was supposed to be part of the flotilla, but had to call off because of a change in dates, however, Dr Nowarah who sustained injuries aboard the sieged boat and will talk to the pupils about his experiences and his humanitarian work.
Jim Hume said:
"The fact that Selkirk pupils want to hear from Dr Nowarah shows that young people are acutely aware of international current affairs and what goes on in the world, and I hope that they will be inspired by what he has to say."
