Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, this week hosted a Royal Air Forces' Association exhibition in the Scottish Parliament as part of a series of events to commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Britain, which is widely regarded as a pivotal battle in World War 2 history, where it was the failed aim of the Luftwaffe to destroy Britain's air forces.
RAFA provides friendship and welfare support to ex-serving and serving members of the RAF and their families across of the whole British Isles, and the MSP also highlighted its work in a Scottish Parliament debate on the Victoria Cross recipients.
Jim Hume MSP said:
"RAFA does fantastic work helping ex RAF personnel and one of its aims is to remember those who sacrificed their lives in past conflicts, but it also pays tribute to those service men and women who continue that work today to maintain our nation's safety."
"It was an honour to host this exhibition to commemorate the Battle of Britain as many brave RAF personnel sacrificed their lives and I hope that in doing so, the ongoing work of RAFA is highlighted."
