HUME WELCOMES BENEVOLENT INSTITUTION TO THE SCOTTISH PARLIAMENT

October 30, 2009 9:26 PM

Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, this week welcomed the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution to the Scottish Parliament.

Chief Executive, Maurice Hankey, and Chairman, Balfour Thomson, took an exhibition stand in Holyrood to publicise the work of the Institution.

Jim Hume said:

"RSABI was founded in 1897 to help elderly and disabled Scottish farmers and their dependents. Today, the charity provides financial and practical support to over 600 individuals and their families across a range of occupations with the common theme of working on the land in Scotland.

"Having the charity in Parliament was a good chance to publicise its work as well as hopefully making a few useful MSP contacts at the same time."
