LOOKAROUND AXED – “END OF AN ERA”

Jim Hume, Liberal Democrat MSP for the South of Scotland, have today commented on the official ending of ITV Border's local news coverage, which has been broadcast in the South of Scotland region for over 40 years, by paying tribute to the service that has been provided over this time.
Jim Hume MSP said:
"The merging of ITV Border and Tyne Tees news marks the end of an era for local broadcasting. While it has been promised that there will be a 15 minute opt out for local news for Dumfries and Galloway, residents will no longer see the flagship Lookaround programme which has become so loved over the years.
"My Liberal Democrat colleagues and I campaigned hard to maintain the full service, and it is very sad that these changes are going ahead. We now need to make sure that Dumfries and Galloway does not lose out with this new service."
