Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has today congratulated The House of Cheviot in Hawick on securing an agreement to retail its products through the Scottish Parliament shop.
Jim Hume said:
"The products which The House of Cheviot produces are undoubtedly of the highest quality and standard, and will be a great asset to the Scottish Parliament shop.
"They truly are original Scottish products and of critical importance is the fact that they are a symbol of the historic textiles industry in the Borders, which of course reminds us of our heritage and what this manufacturing and design industry means to the South of Scotland region as a whole.
The MSP continued:
"Robin Deas of The House of Cheviot saw a marketing opportunity and we talked about the possibility of retailing garments through the parliament shop. It seemed befitting that the Scottish Parliament should stock such a quality Scottish product and I'm delighted that the retail manager has now bought in a number of garments."
Robin Deas of The House of Cheviot added:
"This is a marvellous opportunity for the company to show case our specially designed neck ties, in particular the ones we designed for the Scottish Parliament and Members, along with a special selection of socks which will be sold in the Parliament shop.
"This gives the House of Cheviot and Hawick a window in a very prominent position where our products will be on display to people from all over the world.
"Everyone in the company has helped to make this a possibility and our sincere thanks to Jim Hume MSP for all his help."
