LEADERSHIP CONTEST COMES TO WIGTOWN

August 11, 2008 12:00 AM

Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, last week welcomed Libdem leadership candidates and former Scottish Executive Ministers, Tavish Scott MSP and Ross Finnie MSP, to Wigtown for a local hustings.

Jim Hume said:

"I'm supporting Tavish's campaign, but both he and Ross are excellent candidates.

"Last week's hustings was an opportunity for members to speak with each of the candidates face to face and to really get a feel for how they see the party being taken forward.

The MSP continued:

"The hustings took place during the south west part of my summer tour around the region's agricultural shows during which I've had the opportunity to speak to constituents on many issues from double tagging in sheep, fuel prices, affordable housing, economic regeneration to name a few.

"I've collected a number of signatures for my petitions on sheep tagging, fuel prices and post offices and they will all help me to campaign on these important issues."
