Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, is continuing his efforts to stop the proposed 2p fuel duty increase due in October.
Jim Hume said:-
"I have been lobbying both the Scottish and UK Governments on this issue for some time now.
"This spring's expected increase did not happen, but there are of course fears that the 2p increase will be applied in October.
The MSP continued:-
"Constituents across the whole of the South of Scotland will be affected by this.
"The problem for many in the South of Scotland is that the region is largely rural and there isn't the public transport infrastructure to allow people to opt for shared transport. As a result people have no option other than to use their cars as a necessary tool to get about.
"I am continuing to lobby the UK Government hard and I hope that the Chancellor abandons plans for the 2p increase."
