MSP’s ANGER AS CIVIL SERVICE JOBS RELOCATION POLICY FOR THE BORDERS SCRAPPED BY SNP

January 30, 2008 12:00 AM

Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has voice grave disappointment at the announcement from the SNP this week that the Scottish Government is effectively terminating its civil service jobs relocation policy.

Jim Hume said:-

"The relocation of jobs in the Scottish Borders is something the Liberal Democrats have campaigned on for years. However, the announcement this week suggests that the SNP is ceasing its policy and consequently threatening the economic wellbeing of the Scottish Borders.

"The SNP have effectively turned the engine off on the Small Units Relocation Policy. The Government should get on with action that will get smaller towns in Scotland onto the Government's map.

The MSP continued:-

"Government is about choices and I am very concerned that this government has chosen to focus entirely on the central belt of Scotland at the expense of the smaller towns."
