Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has today commented on the First Minister's visit to the UK's largest biomass station.
Jim Hume said:-
"I welcome the opening of the Steven's Croft plant, a project started by the previous Executive in 2006.
"I can't work up the same enthusiasm for the First Minister's comments about renewable energy. I am really disappointed that his Government has failed to take up Nicol Stephen's target of 100 per cent of Scotland's electricity coming from renewable sources by 2050.
"I was a little surprised to hear the First Minister's animated support for biomass, given that Liberal Democrats had to amend a recent Government motion to ensure that his ministers would deliver the previous administration's Biomass Action Plan.
The MSP continued:-
"The SNP could prove that it really is committed to biomass, by supporting a second round of the highly successful biomass support scheme, pioneered by Liberal Democrat leader, Nicol Stephen."
