Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has today voiced his disappointment that the Waterfront Development in Stranraer has been downgraded from a national priority status.
Jim Hume said:-
"The news that the Waterfront project has been taken off the Scottish Government's list of national priorities has come as something of a blow to the area.
"The Scottish Government has spoken a great deal about Stranraer being 'an international gateway for Scotland', but I seriously question its commitment to the South of Scotland in light of this very disappointing news.
The MSP continued:-
"It is unfortunately no great surprise. There was talk of this sort of thing happening following the reorganisation of the Scottish Enterprise Network, an issue on which I have lobbied the Enterprise Minister for many months.
"The fear is now that there will not be enough money to finance the project and of course it raises questions about future projects in the South of Scotland.
