Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, has today joined with two Parliamentary colleagues in marking the retirement of Mr David Shanks from his teaching post at Selkirk High School by supporting a joint cross party motion worked up by the three former Selkirk High School Pupil MSPs.
Jim Hume MSP said:
"Mr Shanks, or Shanksie as he was affectionately known by pupils, made a huge contribution to the local area during his career which spanned three decades.
"I am sure that forever imprinted on my memory will be the words to 'qualis stat canis in fenestra?' (how much is that doggy in the window?).
The MSP continued:-
"Alasdair Allan, Derek Brownlee and myself are all ex pupils of Mr Shanks and it seemed only appropriate to mark his retirement in this way."
