Jim Hume, MSP for the South of Scotland, will visit Ross High School in East Lothian later today to take part in a question and answer session with modern studies pupils.
Jim Hume said:-
"This is exactly the type of interaction that's needed with schools and young people.
"It really gives pupils the chance to ask politicians about the Scottish Parliament, the wider political system and the big issues in today's society.
The MSP continued:-
"It's particularly important that we engage young people in Scotland so that they have a greater understanding of how their country works and so that they can have a greater say in its future as well as their own lives.
"We have to give young people in Scotland a voice, listen to them and then get them involved and I hope that today will spark some enthusiasm and inspiration."
Lee Campbell of Ross High added:-
"The Ross High Modern Studies department are delighted to host such a significant event and would like to thank all the panellists and delegates for giving up their valuable time to participate. We believe that secondary schools in East Lothian are at the forefront of Modern Studies delivery and events like this can only help raise the profile of the subject even more."
